Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School

This is a Government initiative aimed at "narrowing the gap" in achievement between children who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and other groups in school. At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School we have higher than average numbers of children eligible for FSM so have been allocated this additional funding.

“Narrowing the gap” is only able to take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School because we have a rigorous and robust tracking and monitoring system to ensure all pupils, regardless of their starting point and personal situation, are making sufficient progress in order to meet and exceed their own personal targets.

In 2016/17, the Pupil Premium allocation was £95,040

This is being used in a variety of ways:

  • Intervention and Booster sessions in both KS1 and KS2 in Reading, Writing and Maths, with targeted support in Phonics for Year 1 and 2.
  • Increased teaching assistant hours
  • Extra phonics support and materials, focusing on the communication needs of our most disadvantaged children in particular

  • Continuing to employ of Family liaison/Attendance worker
  • Continuing to subsidise our quality enrichment activities, Educational Visits and visitors in school.

This will be reviewed in May 2017
